A cash drawer has no separate cable or connection type of its own — it's wired directly into a receipt printer's kick-out port, and opening it is driven by the exact same command stream the printer already understands. This means posflect doesn't need any new hardware channel to control a drawer: opening one is just another job sent through the print agent to a printer that's been flagged as having a drawer attached.
Opening the drawer sends a short, standard signal that pulses the drawer's release solenoid for about fifty milliseconds — the manufacturer-recommended timing that reliably pops nearly any drawer without any per-printer tuning. This can be triggered manually with one click, or automatically right after a sale completes, depending on how the branch is configured, and it's gated by a dedicated permission so not everyone at the till can pop the drawer whenever they like.
