Leave Requests let any staff member submit a request for time off, choosing a leave type — vacation, sick, or unpaid — and a start and end date, with an optional reason. A request stays pending until it's approved or rejected by someone with leave-management permission, the branch's own manager, or anyone with access across all branches; a rejection can include a reason.
The leave type matters directly to payroll: vacation and sick leave are paid, so approved days in either category are excluded from the absence deduction when a payslip is generated, while unpaid leave still docks that day's pay. This is what separates an approved, excused absence from an unexcused one when payroll looks back over a pay period's attendance.
