Attendance tracks a staff member's actual working hours — separate from a cashier's cash-drawer shift, which only covers the time a till was open, not necessarily a whole workday. A manager, stock clerk, or anyone else who never opens a register still gets a proper attendance record.
Clocking in and out works from any logged-in device, like a shared kiosk tablet at the entrance — the person clocking in doesn't need their own session, just their own short numeric PIN, which is separate from any approval PIN they might also hold. Each staff member can only have one open attendance record at a time. Administrators can view attendance history and manually correct a record — for example, if someone forgot to clock out — with a note explaining the change.
